Grenzen Bewegen<\/em> project visit<\/h2>\n

In order to support long-term German and Dutch unemployed people in finding an occupation soon, the project Grenzen Bewegen<\/em> has been created.<\/p>\n

Grenzen Bewegen<\/em>, literally \u201cmove the borders\u201d, is an Interreg V A Deutschland-Nederland project. It had a pilot action<\/strong> in 2013<\/strong>, which brought to its \u201ckick-off<\/strong>\u201d in December 2015<\/strong> and is going to last until November 2018<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cTheodor-Brauer-Haus\u201d, \u201cKreis Kleve\u201d, \u201cRegionale Sociale Dienst De Liemers (RSD de Liemers)\u201d and \u201cGemeente Overbetuwe\u201d are the stakeholders of this project, which main goal is to inform the involved jobseekers about the opportunities of the cross-border labour market and support the inclusion in the job social insurance system.<\/p>\n

Theodor-Brauer-Haus is a vocational training center, the Kleve district is involved with its jobcenter, De Liemers are a regional social services and \u201cGemeente Overbetuwe\u201d is the Overbetuwe\u00b4s municipality centre. The Euregio-Forum hosts the stakeholders\u00b4reunion twice a year: in fact there will be soon, on the 19th of October, the \u201cCross-border labour market between Germany and the Netherlands\u201d event in its headquarters.<\/p>\n

Within this project, on\u00a0the 19th of October Euregio Rhein-Waal Forum hosted a conference on the cross-border labour market.<\/p>\n

The conference, opened to the public, followed the\u00a0Grenzen Bewegen<\/em> project visit that German and Dutch city council members and policy officers, my colleagues Heidi de Ruiter, Carola Schroer, Sjaak Kamps and I went to on the 28th of September. The visit was in Zevenaar, a Dutch city and municipality of the Gelderland Province and three lecturers exchanged during the debriefing and illustrated us structure, developments and mid-term reached results of the project.<\/p>\n

Grenzen Bewegen project visit in Zevenaar<\/h5>\n

Grenzen Bewegen<\/em> offers people looking for a job since long and previously selected an educational<\/strong> training, which includes:<\/p>\n

– a cultural-linguistical preparation<\/strong> on the other country with field exercise;<\/p>\n

– support<\/strong> in writing the cover letter;<\/p>\n

– visits<\/strong> of cross-border firms;<\/p>\n

– the job centre\u00b4s assistance<\/strong>;<\/p>\n

– binational meetings<\/strong>;<\/p>\n

– reports<\/strong> from people who work accorss the border;<\/p>\n

– counselling<\/strong> from the \u201cGrenzInfoPunkt\u201d (Border-infopoint) at Euregio Rhein-Waal;<\/p>\n

-search of workplaces\/firms and a traineeship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are two training centres<\/strong>: one hosted at the Theodor-Brauer-Haus Berufsbildungszentrum Kleve e.V, at the German side, the other one in the Volksuniversiteit Zevenaar, as Dutch referee.<\/p>\n

At this point of the project, 166 participants<\/strong> have been involved in different cities from both countries and the 35%<\/strong> of them found a job<\/strong> thanks to it.<\/p>\n

In this sense, Grenzen Bewegen<\/em> has been successful<\/strong> in strengthening the idea of a regional<\/strong> labour market and coherent<\/strong> with the main objectives of the Interreg V A Deutschland-Nederland Programme, which aims are \u201cto increase the innovative capacity of the border region and to reduce the barrier effect of the boundary<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A final evaluation <\/strong>of the project is planned in order to identify the best practices<\/strong> for the next edition.<\/p>\n
