On the 24th of November 2017 the last meeting of this year of the INTERREG Deutschland-Nederland Monitoring Committee took place in Assen\u00b4s Drents Museum (Netherlands).<\/p>\n

The meeting was opened by the exhibition coordinator\u00b4s Mr. Schonewille, who gave a little insight into the INTERREG \u201eKulturachse Nord\u201d (\u201eCultural axis Nord\u201c)\u00b4s project, which supports \u201eThe American Dream\u201c\u00b4s art exhibition in Drents\u00b4 Museum, opened on the 19th of November.<\/p>\n

During the Monitoring Committee\u00b4s meeting different issues were debated, such as the current state of the Programme, as well as the Programme\u00b4s evaluation and communication. Moreover certain Programme\u00b4s regulations were discussed and INTERREG Deutschland-Nederlands\u00b4 Volunteer Reporter Leyla introduced herself and explained her role within the \u201eINTERREG Volunteer Youth (IVY)\u201c Initiative to the Committee\u00b4s members.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, Monitoring Committee\u00b4s members were given the interesting opportunity to participate in a guided tour of \u201eThe American Dream\u201c exhibition. Through themes like figures, city life, landscapes, genres and still life, the participants received an insight of the fascinating \u201eAmerican way of life\u201c. The pieces of work, temporarily loaned by American museums, firms\u00b4 and private collections \u2013 among which, Edward Hopper\u00b4s, Andy Warhol\u00b4s, Alice Neel\u00b4s, Richard Diebenkorn\u00b4s, Martha Rosler\u00b4s, Alex Katz\u00b4s and Chuck Close\u00b4s \u2013 bring the visitor into a tour through the USA\u00b4s culture and history after the Second World War period.<\/p>\n

What catches the attention in this exhibition is parallelism with another similar exhibition in Emden\u00b4s art gallery, in Germany. Both buildings \u2013 Drents\u00b4 Museum as well as Emden\u00b4s art gallery \u2013 expose the selected exhibits of the other respective partner museum too, establishing in this way a cross-border connection. This is the first time all over Europe, that two museums realise together such a great exhibition.<\/p>\n
