“Start-up EDR” is a project intended to develop a cross-border ecosystem for start-ups in the Ems-Dollard-region. This region consists of the three Northern Dutch provinces and the North-west of Germany (the Ems-Achse growth region and the adjacent Weser-Ems region). Through this project the aim is to create links between the networks of entrepreneurs and other participants in the ecosystem. This should be done virtually via digital channels and through personal meetings throughout the Ems Dollar Region (EDR). The aim of the project is to develop attractive conditions for new entrepreneurs and future-oriented start-ups, as well as to create a cross-border breeding ground and culture for setting up new businesses. Regional core themes such as ICT, energy, agriculture and the climate, which play a major role on both sides of the border, are interconnected. Targeted mentoring programs and the use of cross-border training programs for start-ups and entrepreneurship promote the long-term viability of the ecosystem for start-ups. On the basis of more cross-border entrepreneurship as well as the bundling and development of new knowledge, young entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized companies benefit from the “Start-up EDR” project, and the innovative possibilities of the entire Ems Dollard Region are increased.
