Oberflächen mit Selbstschutzfunktion zum Erhalt der chemischen und mikrobiellen Reinheit

Aim is the strengthening of the innovative capacity of Euregional companies in the competence field “new substances and materials” by the development of surfaces with self-protecting function. The aimed development of Multi-Stimulus-Systems, MSS, enables for the first time to maintain chemical and microbiological purity of surfaces in a safe, efficient, sustainable and resource-saving way. The function is based on the decomposition of soilings (self-cleaning), which serve as adhesive agent and/or nutrition source for microorganisms. In parallel microorganisms will be inactivated and destroyed (self-disinfection) and subsequently chemically decomposed. In opposite to surfaces with antimicrobial or easy-to-clean properties, MSS modified surfaces will keep chemical and microbial purity under diminished or even totally ceased cleaning and disinfection service. The self-protecting function can be designed for virtually all surfaces; therefore it is of high interest for numerous fields of application:
• Infection relevant surfaces (e.g. in healthcare facilities): sustainable hygiene, reduction of the potential infection risk
• Technical surfaces (e.g. in production areas and cleanrooms): improvement of product quality and safety and process reliability
• Surfaces exposed to the environment (e.g. plants for harvesting renewable energy, high tech buildings): long-term preservation of function and appearance
Within the project term the creation of 15-25 new jobs is expected due to the expansion of the product portfolio of participating partners or due to founding of new companies (spin-offs). Forecasted to the companies of the whole Euregio the creation of approximately 300 new jobs within 6 years after the project is expected. Companies of at least 13 of the 21 branches of the economy will benefit from the project results as primary or secondary users, which will implement, apply and market the results.
