The EnerPRO-project focuses on cross-border cooperation processes for small and medium sized companies (SMC) with the purpose to develop innovative products in the field of decentralized renewable energy production and storage as well as energy efficiency technologies. The project is targeted on technology developments in the fields of low energy consumption and CO2-emission savings. This encompasses solar technologies, photovoltaics, fuel cell and hydrogen technologies, energy storage, system integration of renewables and e-mobility. The developed technology innovations will contribute to an increased share of renewables in the energy mix of the region, which will add mutual cross-border value. Therefore, the EnerPRO-project will have a significant impact to fulfil climate protection goals of the Netherlands and North-Rhine Westphalia.

The innovative content of the EnerPRO-project constitutes in the product developments implemented by the SMC, which bundle their specific excellence by cross-border linkage. The utilization of the associated partners’ comprehensive networks (e.g. OostNL, Alliander, Energy Agency NRW) ensure a high visibility of the project. To initiate product innovations meetings and seminars are executed and decision makers of 250 companies are informed. With 100 SMC orientation sessions are performed and for 50 SMC the product concept is promoted. Finally, 17 product innovations are developed as an outcome of the cross-border cooperation. It is the ambition to initiate half of the product developments in the focus areas of photovoltaics and solar technologies, since a high innovative potential is prevalent in this fields. Dutch-German project partner teams (region coordinators) are responsible for the operative realization of the activities and to ensure cross-border support for companies within the focus groups of the project.
