Interreg

The INTERREG project Nachrichten / Nieuws is necessary, because living region requires more than just mutual understanding of the foreign neighboring region. It requiers more than “shopping” or “cheap refueling”. This project wants to emphasize the importance of each other’s actions and knowledge. Mutual understanding and sense, supports the human dimension and interpersonal cohesion as basis for the European community. As a border resident, it is necessary to know which cross-border themes are playing a role, who the decision makers are and what impact this has on the community in the border region. Almost 10% of the residents of the direct region works across the border and are therefore confronted with both the differences and similarities.

National and regional media often lack cross-border regional news. In the German border region the The Hague news is rather than news from the Achterhoek region, het Rijk van Nijmegen or the region of Arnhem. In the Dutch border region too, information from Berlin is displacing news from Kreis Kleve, Duisburg or Düsseldorf. Intensive cooperation between the three news media in the border region can improve this. By jointly taking care of reporting and bringing journalistic productions and journalism we try to achieve to blur the boundaries. This cross-border media cooperation also ensures cross-border internship and work experience places of various colleges and universities. Students from both countries are part of the Euregion editorial team. Cross-border news is important for regional residents on both sides of the border (getting to know your neighbor)
